New craft room in process

So as you might know I recently moved into a new home.  Since I first moved in I had my craft room upstairs in one of the bedrooms.  But lately I realized it was just too small.  So this weekend I started moving my craft room downstairs.

The back wall are storage cubes from Michael's.  I built a platform using 2 by 4's so they would be off the floor.  Then for extra counter space I'm putting a countertop over them.

A while back I purchased some unfinished cabinets from Menard's.  But because I didn't have room in my craft room I've been using them in my sewing room.  Now I have room, so I finally got around to painting them and moved to my new craft room.

I have an unused armoire that I'm going to move down there once I get some muscle over to help me {smile}.

Well that will all for now.  Once I get everything moved I'll post more pictures.

Quick Birthday card

This card was a quick card.  I stamped the balloons in different colors and cut then put by hand.  I also stamped the balloons on the red card stock and used foam squares to to pop the ones I cut out.  I colored the "celebrate" with different colors to match the party hat back groin.  The blue paper says "happy birthday" all over it.

Thanks for looking.

New chapter in my life

So in June 2012, my home was robbed for the 4th time in 18 months.  Lucky for me I was never home when this happened.  But what if I hadn't?  So I put my house on the market and started the process of finding a new home.  My old home was in Lansing, MI in an area which really was not that high in crime.  Well except for my house apparently.

The house hunting was fun and frustrating.  I put in a few offers which where not accepted.  Had an approved bid on a short sale which fell through.  Finally I found the perfect house for me.  I tell you being an avid crafter and antique collector, I've accumulated a lot of stuff over the years.  Packing was no small feat!

My new home is in Mason, MI which is a much smaller town.  It's a ranch build in 1977 on almost an acre and a half.  It has a garage, which I've never had before.  A full walk out basement.  3 bedrooms on the main floor.  2 full baths.  And an additional 2 bedrooms in the basement.  Way more room than a single lady needs, but you never know when you might need it.  I am able to have an office, craft room (for my paper crafts), sewing room, my bedroom of course, and a spare room for whatever.  My laundry is now on the first floor...wow never realized how nice that would be.  I have a great big kitchen.

Unfortunately, I'm still trying to sell my old house - pictures below.  I'm really hoping it doesn't end up going back to the bank.  But if it does I see it as a small price to pay for having a home I feel safe in.

Well I am hoping to post more crafts now that I'm finally moved and somewhat more organized.

Quick and easy sympathy card

I needed a sympathy card for tomorrow and didn't have a lot of time to fiddle with it tonight.  So glad I bought this "Love and Sympathy" stamp set from Stampin' Up... It makes it easy for a quick card.  I used Pear Pizzaz and Primrose Petals as my color choices.

Thanks for stopping by!
Valerie

Wow it has been a while

So I just realized it has been a year and a half since I posted last.  I'll have to come back and explain why later... But for now here is a card I made for a co-worker.  The colors are Stampin' Up Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade.

Botanical Birthday

Once again I grabbed my supplies from my Stampin' Up stash.  The green card stock and pattern paper are both Pear Pizzazz and the pink is Blushing Bride.  Both of these are from the 2010-2012 In-Color collection.  The flower stamp is from Botanical Blooms and the sentiment is from Circle of Friendship.  I used coordinating inks for the stamps and the faux stitching.  The ribbon is from Michael's which I thought coordinated good with the Pear Pizzazz.

Snappy Birthday

So I recently bought some new Stampin' Up supplies, so I decided to use them for a birthday card I needed for work. The papers are Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder from the 2011-2013 In Color collection. The stamp set is Crab & Company which is retired now. I colored the little guy with the coordinating Pool Party marker {though it doesn't look like it in the picture...} After putting it together, I just couldn't help myself and added the googly eyes.
